We are E.H. Crouch Funeral Directors in Letchworth, and we would be honoured to arrange and conduct a personal and meaningful farewell for your loved one. We were founded in 1958 by a local Letchworth man called Ted Crouch. The values of Ted and his family remain at the heart of all that we do; your loved one and your family are our utmost priority, and we will take care of you with uncompromising compassion, every step of the way. All of our facilities are maintained to the highest standards, such as our beautiful Mercedes fleet, which you are welcome to choose for the funeral procession. We also have a chapel of rest for you to spend time with your loved one before the funeral. We cater for all faiths, cultures and personal preferences. We are local to several churches, as well as Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara, North Hertfordshire Memorial Park and Crematorium and many more. Whatever kind of service you feel is most fitting, we will always be able to help you. The wellbeing of people in our community is paramount to us, which is why we host many events such as bereavement groups, coffee mornings, and much more. Every year on Remembrance Day and Christmas we provide services and memorials to pay tribute to loved ones who have passed away.
At E. H. Crouch we pride ourselves on our kindness, compassion and our professionalism. We are a close and friendly team who have worked together for several years. We look after the families we care for in the same way we would care for our own. Our staff will go out of their way to make sure a funeral service goes above and beyond expectations and provide aftercare to show that we are always there.

From 9 September 2024, there will no longer be a doctor's fee in England and Wales when arranging a funeral. This is because from this date, all deaths in England and Wales will be independently viewed, either by a relevant coroner or by a Medical Examiner and the cost will be met by the NHS.
A Medical Examiner is a specifically trained independent senior doctor who will scrutinise all deaths across a local area that do not fall under the coroner's jurisdiction. By providing a greater level of scrutiny over the cause of deaths; it is hoped that the introduction of Medical Examiners will make it less likely that unnatural causes of death will go unnoticed; that the number of deaths unnecessarily referred to the coroner will be reduced and that national data about causes of death will be captured with greater accuracy.
Medical Examiners, or Medical Examiner Officers, will also be available to meet with families, or their representatives, if they wish to discuss the cause of death.
